Company profile

Joint stock company Cement Hranice has belonged to the Italian Buzzi Unicem group since 2004, and our main production programme is the production of cement products and mortar adhesives. Thanks to our long tradition, high quality service and individual approach to clients, Cement Hranice ranks among the most modern producers of quality building materials in the region. This is borne out by key building projects at home and abroad that have been and continue to be founded on Hranice cement for over 50 years.

Production at the Hranice cement-works began in April 1954 with an annual capacity of 114, 000 tonnes of clinker. Gradually the daily throughput capacity increased to 3,000 tonnes of clinker, from which currently are milled portland cement, portland slag cement and a wide variety of mortar binders.

Between 1987 and 1992 the company underwent thorough modernization. Thus by the 1990s the Hranice plant ranked among the most state-of-the-art cement-works in Europe. Clinker is produced today using a far more effective method. In addition to economic and qualitative improvements, the modernization also incorporated the ecological dimension of production. Emissions were substantially reduced thanks to de-dusting equipment worth 150 million CZK installed during the modernization process. The deployment of three-stage firing of clinker with pre-calcination has considerably reduced the emission of nitrogen dioxide and sulphur compounds. All toxins are measured by precise instruments and their values transferred to the operation system, which is programmed to shut down if permitted levels are exceeded.

Cement Hranice company has been since 1995 holder of the Quality Managment Certificate in accordance with the norms DIN EN ISO 9002; since 2003 holder of management system certificates in accordance with ČSN EN ISO 9001:2000 and ČSN EN ISO 14 001:1996, and in 2007 was awarded the Management Certificate OHSAS 18 001: 1999.
